This wine is 100% Sangiovese, reaped from vines planted as far back as the 1970’s, and aged for 12 months in used Slovenian oak barrels. Slovenian oak is said to be similar in quality and character to French oak, and is thought to be very mild in character, making it ideal for subtle wines like Chianti. The Berardenga is specifically from the Classico area of Chianti, which is the heart of the Chianti region. Pairs perfectly with pork, game fowl, and pasta.
